1,420 APOLLO Solar Street Lights for Infrastructure Reconstruction in Syria

Project Background

In 2019, Inlux Solar supplied 1,420 sets of APOLLO Series All-in-Three Solar Street Lights for infrastructure reconstruction areas in Syria. The project covered multiple locations across the governorates of Aleppo, Rif Dimashq, and Homs, where reliable outdoor lighting was needed to support road access, community movement, and the gradual recovery of public spaces.

After years of conflict, many streets, public areas, and local access roads in Syria faced limited or unstable electricity supply. In this context, solar street lighting offered a practical solution for restoring nighttime visibility without depending heavily on grid infrastructure. For reconstruction projects, this type of off-grid lighting can reduce cabling work, shorten installation time, and provide immediate lighting benefits for communities.

This project was supplied as part of a UNDP-related infrastructure aid and recovery initiative. The purpose was not only to install lighting equipment, but also to support safer movement, improved visibility, and better use of public areas after dark in reconstruction zones.

Why the APOLLO All-in-Three Solar Street Light Was Selected

The APOLLO Series All-in-Three Solar Street Light was selected for this Syria reconstruction project because it is designed for project-grade outdoor lighting applications that require strong illumination, stable solar charging, and durable operation in demanding environments.

The project configuration used 10-meter poles, 60W LED lights, and LiFePO4 24V 50Ah battery systems. This configuration was suitable for road and street lighting applications where wider light coverage and stable nighttime performance were required. The separated solar panel design also allowed the panel angle and orientation to be adjusted according to local sunlight conditions, helping improve solar charging efficiency at different installation sites.

For reconstruction areas, product reliability is especially important. Lighting systems must be easy to install, resistant to outdoor weather exposure, and simple for local teams to maintain. The BISON Series was therefore used as a practical solution for distributed street lighting across multiple locations.

Deployment Scope and Project Configuration

The total supply quantity for this project was 1,420 sets. The lights were used across reconstruction areas in Aleppo, Rif Dimashq, and Homs, supporting streets, access roads, and public areas where nighttime visibility was limited.

Each lighting system was configured with a 10-meter pole, 60W LED fixture, and LiFePO4 24V 50Ah battery. This specification provided a balanced solution for street-level illumination, solar autonomy, and long-term outdoor use. Compared with conventional grid-connected street lighting, the solar-powered design helped reduce dependency on damaged or unstable electrical infrastructure.

The project also required a lighting system that could be deployed in batches and adapted to different site conditions. Because the installation areas were not limited to one single city or road, the selected product needed to be standardized enough for consistent quality control while remaining flexible enough for use across different reconstruction environments.

Project Outcome

After installation, the solar street lights helped improve nighttime visibility in selected reconstruction areas and supported safer movement for residents, pedestrians, and local communities. In locations where electricity access was limited, the solar-powered lighting system provided an independent source of illumination for streets and public access zones.

The value of the project went beyond lighting equipment. For communities recovering from damaged infrastructure, outdoor lighting helps restore basic public functionality. Brighter streets and access roads can make evening movement easier, support local activity after sunset, and contribute to a stronger sense of safety in public spaces.

This Syria project demonstrates how project-grade solar street lighting can support post-conflict infrastructure recovery, especially in areas where grid reconstruction is difficult, slow, or costly. With the right solar panel, battery, LED power, pole height, and installation design, solar street lights can provide an effective and maintainable lighting solution for reconstruction, aid, and public infrastructure projects.
