Wind Load (EPA) & Foundation Center
High mast poles are structural systems. This page standardizes what to prepare and what to request (calculations + drawings + foundation checklist).

Required inputs (copy/paste)
Project location: Pole height (m): Luminaire quantity per mast: Luminaire projected area (if known) / model: Wind speed / wind zone (or local code reference): Terrain / exposure category (if specified): Topography notes (coastal, open plain, hillside): Lowering device required? (yes/no): Foundation constraints (soil info, underground utilities, space limits): Corrosion environment (C3/C4/C5-M if specified):
Deliverables to request
- Structural calculation package (local standard compliance stated).
- General arrangement drawings: pole, base plate, anchor bolts, lowering device (if any).
- Foundation checklist: foundation type, bolt cage details, rebar schedule (or required inputs).
- Material & protection: steel grade, galvanization thickness, coating (if required), fasteners.
- Quality records: weld inspection, dimensional checks, traceability.
RFQ clauses (copy/paste)
- Supplier must provide structural calculations and confirm compliance with the applicable local standard/code.
- Supplier must provide drawings for pole, base plate, anchor bolts, and lowering device (if required).
- Supplier must provide a foundation deliverables checklist and state required site inputs (soil, constraints).
- All assumptions must be stated (wind zone, exposure, luminaire area, safety factors).
Acceptance & handover records
- As-built drawings / final drawings set
- Material certificates + galvanization/coating records
- Inspection records (welds, dimensions, fasteners)
- Lowering device commissioning and maintenance instructions (if used)
